AHS Proton Pump Peeps - Rob's Page
I joined the legendary AHS Pharmacy Proton Pump Peeps last year to participate in the YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES and I am proud to join the team again this year, in support of the YWCA and their work in preventing domestic violence and helping those who are victim to domestic violence.
Domestic violence continues to be pervasive in our society and the YWCA does great work in helping families escape this cycle of violence. I was shocked to learn that the Edmonton Police Service receives 24 domestic violence reports a day, on average. About 27,000 Albertan women & families seek shelter from domestic violence every year. While domestic violence does not receive extensive coverage in the traditional or social media, it is readily apparent that it continues to be a huge societal problem. The YWCA helps by developing domestic violence recovery programs, providing counselling for women and families, and develops violence prevention programs for youths.
Please take a moment and make a donation today. All funds go to supporting violence prevention and recovery programs at the YWCA.
If you are able to donate by September 2, the Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink will match your donation up to 50%.
The location of the walk is 104 ST & Jasper Ave on Wednesday September 12. The AHS Proton Pump Peeps will be struggling to walk sometime between 11:30AM and 1:30PM.
Let me know if you are planning to witness our struggles, and I will watch out for you. Photos are encouraged! You can see the Proton Pump Group photo from last year, right on the main page: http://ywcaed.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1060&pg=entry We are the second photo in the banner.
