Walk a Mile With Me & Help End the Stigma!
I’m ready to STEP UP in stilettos! Please support me, as I WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES alongside hundreds of other participants, so women and children can take steps away from domestic violence.
This cause is very important to me. I suffered through the cycle of abuse & domestic violence for 15 years and several partners before I was able to finally break free. I was physically abused almost daily, emotionally crushed, kidnapped, sexually abused and lived in constant fear for my life and the life of my son. At one point, we used a women's shelter when we were running and hiding from his father who was threatening my life at the time. If not for that shelter, I'm not sure where we'd be today. Despite all of the above, and despite the fact that I was a practicing lawyer at the time, I was too ahamed to tell anyone or to seek help. The shame and stigma associated with domestic abuse has to end. It is so hard to be alone, ashamed and afraid. There are resources available and people to talk to. This walk is just one small way to raise awareness and offer help and support to the men and women suffering alone.
